Just in case you have not heard, Crazy Rich Asians is coming back as an HBO series vs a film sequel.
On one hand I am just happy to be seeing some sort of follow-up vs say being SHANG-CHI'd.
I can't speak to financially if one is better or worse, and for whom, or under what circumstances.
Maybe CRA has to be its own singular existance and this is the way to expand that world.
But I can't help but wonder if like the latest Spiderman film, the time between films, that nostalgia, would have made people come out in droves, doing this crazy amount of ticket sales.
Maybe it douibles the original and goes past half a billion in revenue.
Maybe it catches a new generation just a little too young to have been emotionally invested in the first.
I feel like that's within reason and I think that is different than a series.
Even if you can have many series' that outshine films.
Either way--I'm excited to at least get more.
