Honestly, this is why I will most likely never visit Alabama. It might be obtuse and myopic, and sure growing up I heard things about Alabama too which make me biased, but well, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and smells like a duck, it's a duck.
Apparently the arrest of the non-violent, 61-year-old woman who someone in the video said was also a grandmother, was because there were complaints about "traffic hazards in the area".
According to reports, this wonderful woman who was expressing her 1st Amendment rights, refused to take off her inflatable penis costume, and even though it sounds like she was walking away from them, they decided they needed to take her to the ground where they needed THREE GOOD 'OLE BOYS to arrest and cuff her.
All for expressing her 1st Amendment rights at the No Kings protest.
The Fairhop Mayor Sherry Sullivan said "We expect all protest to be peaceful and should not include any profanity or obscene material."
I guess in some ways I shouldn't expect any different from a state that still has an Anti-Obscenity Enforcement Act that bans the sale of "any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs for any thing of pecuniary value". And no, pecuniary does not mean what you think it does...
One of the officers in the video can be heard saying "I'm not gonna have someone out here dressed like this."
