Arden Cho On Making Peace With People Who Treated Her Like She Didn't Belong

Sunday, December 28, 2025

From a BBC audio interview:

KPop Demon Hunters actor Arden Cho says she's made peace with the bullies who treated her as if she didn't belong...
Korean American actor Arden is the voice of Rumi, who must come to terms with being part-human, part-demon - and Arden says she knows what it's like to have a split identity.
"I'm not part demon, part human," she jokes - "[but] it just felt so comfortable and natural because I knew what that felt like, right? Being born in America, feeling American, but having people treat me like I'm not."
Arden was born and raised in Texas, US. She went to high school in Minnesota and college in Illinois, and when people ask, she tells them she's "sort of from everywhere."
She's the daughter of Korean immigrants, and faced racism growing up. Now she makes peace with this by reminding herself of the reasons behind it.
"If, like, teachers or adults were bullies to me and I experienced that, you know, now I know as an adult, like... they're hurt. They're broken themselves," she says.
Arden can't believe how much things have shifted, now that Korean culture is so popular worldwide.
"I can't believe I grew up so ashamed and embarrassed of my Korean culture, mainly because of bullies," she says. "And now those are the kids saying, oh, where do I find that food? Where do I listen to that music?"
Arden herself has become a leading role model for Asian American children - the kind she says she lacked when she was young.
"Now, like, all my nieces and nephews and all my friend's kids, they are so cool. They're like, they're just cool to be Korean, right? I mean, who knew?"
It's all been a revelation for her.
"This has been such a refreshing moment where for the first time I'm really proud to be Korean, to be Korean-American."

Suni Lee VS Spice: Suni Lee Eats the Spiciest Meal of Her Life

Monday, December 15, 2025

"Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee has nailed perfect 10s in gymnastics - but can she survive a 10 on Chef Esther Choi’s Scoville lineup? Esther throws down a custom three course heat feast: spicy Korean fried chicken, a hot Choi pepper X pizza, and Khao Poon, Suni’s ultimate Lao comfort dish. Between bites, Suni plays a game of Agree or Disagree, sounding off on pop culture hot takes, and breaks down her biggest career moments while revealing how nervous she really was. And for the final test, Esther dares her to a spoonful of the Last Dab, a challenge fit for an Olympian."

Nice work if you can get it.

Keithphan885: BOOTLICKER

Sunday, December 14, 2025

And I think that's all we need to say on this one...well maybe not.
I mean I get having pride in the community, but to say that Somali Americans don't have all those things either and are working on building things up amid EXTREME RACISM is just being a DDM (I'll let you all crack that one).
At the same time he references our time in America (1975) as something to point to as far as assimilation (which we can talk about more later) - but when did Somali Americans start coming into MN?
Oh yeah 1992.
So by Keithphan885's own adminission AKA Bootlicker the Somali American community has about another 20 years to "keep up" with the Viets (and really we started coming out here in the 50's and 60's---not en masse but in smaller numbers).
And they are only about 1/4 the size with less resources.
And just for the record--no Somali American in MN here EVER had me speak anything but English (but that's okay for me to learn).
And I LOVE my SOMALI neighbors and community members.
So hope that shit tastes good BOOTLICKER.
I'm sure it goes good with the dance you're doing or them.
Dance MF Dance!

Yang Hansen Makes First NBA Start

Monday, December 08, 2025

Here's a little clip from the ESPN article.

Yang Hansen, the 7-foot-1 rookie out of China, made his first NBA start in a game Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Hansen, picked 16th in last summer's draft, moved into the starting lineup after the Portland Trail Blazers primary centers -- Donovan Clingan and Robert Williams III -- missed the game. Williams was a late scratch due to an illness, and Clingan missed his second straight contest with a left lower-leg contusion [...]

Yang entered the game averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds. He had a season-high nine points in a 127-110 home loss to the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 18.

He finished Sunday night's game with four points on 2-of-5 shooting and five rebounds in slightly more than 19 minutes. His four points came in the third quarter, which included a spin move and a dunk over 7-foot-3 Zach Edey.

Random Katie Fang + 7 Million TikTok Followers

Saturday, December 06, 2025

From the Forbes video:

"Anybody can go viral on the TikTok algorithm. Before Katie Fang was a content creator with over 7 million followers, she was an overworked and miserable restaurant server. In 2023, she filmed herself crying while getting ready for yet another long shift—a video that unexpectedly went viral. People came for the relatability but stayed for Fang’s makeup tips and unfiltered personality. Now Fang, who is still an undergrad at NYU, raked in an estimated $4 million in earnings last year as a beauty influencer. Her fellow sophomores probably marvel at her doing brand deals with the likes of Dior, becoming the face of skin care company Cetaphil’s campaigns or appearing on billboards for cosmetics brand Kosas. What’s her growth strategy? “My brand is all about being unapologetically yourself and not being afraid to show the raw emotions,” she says. “I don’t plan my content; that feels too curated. I film when I’m in the moment and have something to say."

Nice work if you can get!

And getting that college degree at NYU!!!
