Margaret Cho + Golden Globes + Ummm... + I'll Still Love Her For Sure

Just because of the disparity in Asian American representation I can definitely understand people not taking to Margaret Cho's bit at the Golden Globes, because if that's it - well - we've seen that before and we want more. We deserve more than that. Even as we grow in visibility on that stage - that recognition, which everyone spoke so fondly of (being able to be a part of) - it's still limited.

It's ironic to me that Tina Fey, who when receiving the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor made mention that she hopes there comes a time when being a woman doesn't need to be mentioned (paraphrasing) can't come up with more versatile roles for someone like Cho.

I wasn't a huge fan of it myself, but it's not the worst thing I've seen either, and unlike the sometimes judge and jury mentality of social media condemnation, I'm not going make it seem like this one moment boils down to her whole career and make it seem like there's nothing more to Cho than this - not for someone who's had a long list of helping to break molds for APIA's.

We'll get there though...someday...hopefully...ummmm....I may have to go door to door to beat people...I mean threaten...I mean talk to...I was never there....
