Pacquiao VS Mosley

Monday, May 09, 2011

While some say it didn't have the flair they had hoped for - a win is a win.

Pacquiao Beats Antonio Margarito

Monday, November 15, 2010

Just in case you don't really follow boxing, here's some news you still might want to know just so you can be in the know.

[...] Pacquiao added to his lengthy legacy Saturday night by defeating a taller, stronger and more desperate Antonio Margarito before 41,734 at Cowboys Stadium. Margarito of Tijuana, Mexico, had five inches and 17 pounds on Pacquiao, but by the end of the WBC super welterweight championship, the big guy was beaten up by the little guy.

Margarito emerged a bloody mess. Both eyes were virtually swollen shut from Pacquiao connecting on 411 power punches. One judge had Pacquiao winning all 12 rounds, while The Post had him winning 11 of 12.

"This was the hardest fight of my boxing career," Pacquiao insisted. "He was a lot bigger than me. I tried to fight him toe-to-toe, but he's really a great fighter with a big heart." [...]
So I guess there's only a couple of things left to do...

It's up to Floyd Mayweather now to decide whether he wants to fight Manny Pacquiao and settle once and for all who is the best boxer on the planet.

Pacquiao had said the fight would be "good for boxing" and his promoter Bob Arum is willing to make another attempt at reaching a deal. The only holdup appears to be Mayweather and whether he really wants to fight the Filipino slugger.

Manny Pacquiao Takes His Sixth World Title And Apparently A Lot Of Chips Too

Monday, May 04, 2009

After winning his sixth world title, Manny Pacquiao can apparently call all of the shots:

Manny Pacquiao prides himself as a smart businessman who knows how to play poker. Let future opponents beware: He walked out of the MGM Grand casino-hotel this weekend with a stack of chips.

A record-tying world title in a sixth division. A fourth consecutive victory in a different weight class. And a one-sided performance in a major fight that, compared to the Tyson-Spinks mauling and George Foreman's "Down goes Frazier!" triumph, has given Pacquiao unprecedented power in mapping his immediate fighting future.

The best pound-for-pound fighter in the world coming off a second-round knockout victory like that in a lucrative junior-welterweight championship bout against Ricky Hatton? That creates perks.
I'll still kick him in the nuts if he tries to jack me like White Santa - but other than that - cool.

Manny Pacquiao: Greatest Asian Boxer

Monday, June 30, 2008

Caught this via my Gmail alerts and it seems everyone is talking about it. Even though I didn't see it myself it's definitely pretty cool. From the Phillipine News where Reuel Vidal gives a blow by blow analysis:

Manny Pacquiao dominated from the first round, beat up his foe for eight rounds before finally knocking out David Diaz in the ninth round to grab the World Boxing Council world lightweight title. Pacquiao won his fourth world title in a fourth weight category to become today’s greatest pound-for-pound boxer. In my book, he earned the honor of greatest Asian boxer of all time. Going up in weight gave Pacquiao five more pounds of power while keeping his blinding hand and foot speed.
Greatest Asian boxer? It has a nice ring to it.
