From Margaret Cho With LO.....I Mean Ex-Lax

Tuesday, November 25, 2025

This just tickled my funny bone because you just have to love the sheer joy of Cho.

And no, no one is advocating poisoning people, or doing horrible things, making them go to the hospital.
But if your unconstitutional ICE. SS Nazi ICE. All masked up without a care in this world...
I mean, you know, it's a little funny from the other side...and a little poop never killed anyone?

Holy Fuck: Margaret Cho + Bristol Palin + The Situation + The Hoff? It's Going To Be The Best Season Of DWTS EVER!

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Does it get any better than THIS in TV Land people? I'm gonna say No for right now because I can't begin to even imagine the on-screen and off-screen drama that I'm sure has to ensue and I'm really hoping The Hoff gets shitfaced, vomits on the "The Situation", Sarah Palin makes a guest appearance and Cho proceeds to beat all their asses down just because she can.

Say it with me.

MF Awesome.

And don't deny it - you're gonna watch this train wreck of a what the hell did we do to deserve such spectacular TV???!!!!!!!!

And A Few Words From The Cho Blog

I’m so excited to be doing Dancing With The Stars, but I’ve got a lot to learn. I’ve got some mean stripper moves and I can pick up a dollar with my butt, however the Viennese Waltz is all new for me! I’ve been training with my partner for three days now and I can’t believe how much my body hurts! I’m trying to embrace the pain.
Sweet.

This has been making the rounds and I thought I'd post it up here as well.

Cho Show Review

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

If you're interested, there's a review on The Cho Show down at the LA Times and while it focuses half of the article on her and her past, it's there if you want to check it out:

Still, comedy subsists on pain, and the show, whose tenor is largely happy and light, goes for fuel to still-painful memories of darker times.

"I totally forget," she says, tearing up. "Like, I'm so, like, fabulous now, I'm so glamorous now. But I really didn't feel like that when I was a kid at all -- it was really hard."

On the premiere episode, Cho is to receive an award -- KoreAm Journal’s "Entertainment Achievement Award" and not, as she insists, "Korean of the Year" -- which brings up questions of acceptance by her community.

She's "angry" about the years she felt rejected by them, she tells her "spiritual advisor." (This overplays somewhat the hostility of a group that is, after all, throwing her a party, but it ends in love.)

Watch The Cho Show Episode 1 Online

Saturday, August 16, 2008

If you're interested, you can check out Episode 1 of The Cho Show online down at Logo's website by going here. It's definitely different and something new, and from the "supertrailer" it looks like there's going to be some pretty funny cameos in upcoming episodes.

NYT: Early Look At The Cho Show

Sunday, August 10, 2008

If you're going to be checking out the new Margaret Cho reality series The Cho Show on VH1 - and who isn't interested to see what it's going to like - the New York Times has a preview into what it will be offering:

Like her friend and fellow comedian, Kathy Griffin, who has found television stardom through a reality show, the Emmy-winning “My Life on the D-List,” Ms. Cho has a faithful gay following and parents who are game to be the butt of the joke. But the stakes seem higher for Ms. Cho, who also brings to the table a vulnerability born out of being an anomaly among generally conservative Korean- Americans. Much of the first episode of “The Cho Show” is devoted to her fretting over whether to accept an entertainment achievement award given to her by KoreAm Journal, an English-language monthly magazine that covers Korean-Americans nationwide.

“You’ve never supported me, you don’t care about your kids, you want us all to be pianists,” is what Ms. Cho says she would like to say to the Korean-American media, who once skewered her as “the worst thing to happen to Koreans since they put up the demilitarization zone.”

Her father advises her to cover up her tattoos and accept the award, but a friend’s encouragement holds more sway.

“Let me tell you something, O.K.?,” says Bobby Lee, a Korean-American comedian who appears on “Mad TV” on Fox. “When I was in high school, I saw your special, and it made me realize that I could do it also. Margaret, you’re a pioneer.”
It'll be interesting to see how the show actually is, what the response is like, and if we'll be seeing more of Cho, and her parents in a season two.

Margaret Cho Day

Thursday, May 01, 2008

I missed this earlier this week, but Wednesday, April 30th was Margaret Cho Day in San Francisco - so it's worth mentioning. The live event, which happened at the City Hall, was also taped and will be used in her new VH1 show "The Cho Show".

Cool.

  • Boston Progress Radio turned one year-old last week - Happy Birthday BPR. Check out the great video interview they just put up with hip hop duo Blue Scholars.

  • Interesting story on Aurora Abella-Austriaco who could be Illinois' first Asian American state representative (which would be a long time coming considering the half a million Asian Americans in the state):

Fil-Am lady lawyer’s historic run in Illinois

A top Filipino-American real estate lawyer is eyeing a chance to make history in Illinois when she runs for a seat in the State Assembly. Aurora Abella-Austriaco, 43, ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary, garnering 9,875 votes, nearly double the votes of the 16-year Republican incumbent she's facing in the November 4 general election. If elected, she will be the first ever Asian American state representative in Illinois, also known as the Land of Lincoln, being the hometown of the Civil War era president. She will represent a district which includes the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, where former first lady and New York Senator Hillary Clinton grew up.
  • This could get fun - my money's on Disgrasian.

  • Read about this at 8Asians and I couldn't agree more - the closer we're getting to the 2008 Summer Olympics the more we're hearing about situations like this and even worse as people are being evicted from their homes to make space for the games.

Tang Wei: “Lust, Caution” actress banned in China

According to news reports, Tang Wei, the Chinese actress made famous in Ang Lee’s “Lust, Caution”, is currently band from all media in China - television, film, print, etc. As you may recall, “Lust, Caution” is a suspense-thriller set during the World II era of Japanese occupied Shanghai - with Tang Wei’s character trying to seduce a Japanese collaborator, with some heated sex scenes (thus resulting in a lot of controversy)...
  • Caught down at AAM that Margaret Cho will be coming back to TV on VH1 with her own new reality show called "The Cho Show" - which sounds like it could be pretty cool. There's also a good article in the SF Bay Times with her talking about her touring and stand-up.

For Margaret Cho, her upcoming three-day engagement at The Warfield is a double homecoming. Not only does it bring Cho back to the Bay Area, it returns the San Francisco-born stand-up comedian to the artform which made her famous.

With comic Liam Sullivan opening – and his "Shoes"-loving alter-ego, YouTube sensation Kelly, as special musical guest – Cho plays her hometown March 14-16 as part of her national Beautiful Tour. Here the funny lady who has carved an indelible niche for herself within the LGBT community discusses her return to stand-up, touring the country and an evolving sense of "beauty."
