There is more to know and, of course, much more to see […] The festival has 130 films, with 20 features and the rest shorts, features already facing commercial lift-off like “Finishing the Game,” Charlie Truc Nguyen’s history drama “The Rebel” (Saturday), David Ren’s romantic “Shanghai Kiss” (Friday) and Rajnesh Damalpalli’s “Vanaja” (Sunday), a dance-driven Indian work coming to the Ken Cinema right after the festival.

Here is a three-room office in Kearny Mesa, near San Diego’s main hub of Asian restaurants and markets. She sits among a maze of stuff. Kim, three full-time staffers plus many volunteers are in full hive fever before the new festival.
“For us, it’s family,” she calls the fest and its keepers. Kim plans to invite key fest familiars back for the 2009 event, including critic Beth Accomando, “who really plugged me into international Asian film,” and Filipino-American filmer Mark Arbitrario, now in Hollywood, once her pass key to various Asian festivals as Kim got festivated in 2000.
