Asian Pacific Network Of Oregon

Sunday, January 10, 2010

I do make jokes about the Pacific Northwest and it being the hub for crazy people living in the woods who have more rifles than IQ points - aka White Militia Country - but when push comes to shove - I love you Pacific Northwest.

And I love you too APANO.

APANO invites community members to come learn more about the January 26th special election on Oregon Ballot Measures 66 and 67 related to funding education, health and safety. Come hear from APANO members and special guests, and join us in a dialogue. Newcomers welcome. Childcare available, dinner provided.

APANO asks your help in advocating for these services, by educating and encouraging a Yes Vote on Measure 66 & 67 January 26th, 2010. Oregon’s State Budget for services that affect many of us every day – schools, health clinics, fire and police, employment training – are in jeopardy. Yes on Measure 66 & 67 is a vote for a better future for Oregon with services critical to our families, children and seniors.

Civic Engagement Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Phone Banks

APANO is hosting two phone banks to get out the vote in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities for the January 26th special election. This is a great opportunity to help raise the civic participation of our community, and to support voters in ensuring that our voice is heard. We are seeking 15 volunteers for each phone bank, which will include a comprehensive orientation and practice role play, dinner, and special prizes for all during the phone bank! Expect to make calls for 1 hour 45 minutes.
