Andrew Wong Honors Chinese American Vets

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

I caught this story about Andrew Wong who's been looking for a way to honor Metro Detroit Chinese Americans, and today, it became a reality with the unveiling of a plaque he designed honoring Chinese American veterans for their patriotism and service. The plaque is engraved with the names of close to 150 Chinese American veterans, from Michigan and Greater Toledo, Ohio.

He said it's about time Chinese Americans received their due recognition for military service.

"I think it's important the people realize that Chinese Americans didn't just lay around and didn't do anything," he said. "And it's not just in the wars from long ago. The newer generations also serve this country."
