The Asian American Society of Central Virginia is looking for nominations for its annual awards that honor local residents for education, leadership in business and being involved in the community. Categories for nomination are:
- Excellence in Education -- given to high school seniors who have demonstrated academic and citizenship excellence.
- Corporate Leadership -- given to a business that has achieved a relationship with the Asian community and is committed to promoting their interests in the area.
- Beacon in Philanthropy --given to an individual who has a record of charitable giving and engages in endeavors that benefit the Asian community.
- Humanitarian Shining Star -- presented to someone who has demonstrated community activism and has promoted human welfare and the advancement of social reforms.
- Community Volunteer of the Year and Youth Community Volunteer of the Year -- for individuals with history of volunteerism.
